Rates are holding steady as we end the week
Treasury yields are lower than the last several weeks yet today the market is choppy after the October jobs report showed a stronger-than-expected labor market. Yields, which move in the opposite direction of bond prices, have dropped in recent sessions as a selloff in tech stocks spurred a flight to safer assets. Interest-rate futures, however, show that investors still expect the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates next month at its final meeting of the year, and Friday’s data could reinforce those bets.
